View Case StudiesA snapshot of where Hive stands in the AI search era, and the opportunity cost of the current gap.
Hive has a strong product, a 4.9/5 user rating, and a genuine specialism in employee voice that larger platforms lack. But when HR directors ask AI which employee engagement platform to buy, it is Culture Amp, Lattice, 15Five, and Workday Peakon that dominate the conversation. With a DR of 49 and only 336 organic keywords, Hive is invisible to the AI engines increasingly shaping HR technology purchasing decisions, and the gap compounds every month as competitors publish deeper content libraries that train the next generation of models.
We tested how Hive appears when HR directors and people leaders ask AI tools to recommend employee engagement platforms. Here is what we found.
ChatGPT defaults to Culture Amp, Lattice, 15Five, and Workday Peakon for employee engagement queries. Hive is not in its recommendation set for any tested query.
AI Overviews for UK employee engagement platform queries surface Culture Amp, Lattice, ThriveSparrow, and BambooHR. Hive does not appear in any tested result.
Perplexity draws from high-DR SaaS review sites and comparison content. With limited presence in major "best of" roundups, Hive has no pathway into these results.
Gemini cites the same high-authority HR tech brands: Culture Amp, Lattice, 15Five. No signal from hive.hr appears in any employee engagement platform query.
0 / 4 platforms currently surface Hive in relevant AI-generated recommendations.
Presence in top "best of" industry roundups, structured comparison content, FAQ schema on product pages, third-party reviews on G2 and Capterra, and consistent brand signals across HR technology media.
We ran the exact searches your prospective buyers use when asking AI tools to recommend an employee engagement platform. Here is who appeared, and whether Hive was in the answer.
Hive does not appear in any of the four tested buyer queries, not even for "pulse survey tool" which is its core product. The employee engagement conversation is entirely controlled by platforms with 1.5 to 2x higher domain authority and extensive comparison content strategies.
The "UK employee engagement platform with professional services" and "employee voice platform with coaching" niches are underserved. No competitor combines survey technology with hands-on HR consultancy the way Hive does. Owning this positioning in AI results is achievable within 60 to 90 days with the right content and authority strategy.
These are the platforms currently winning AI recommendations in your market. Understanding why they are cited, and you are not, reveals the exact gap to close.
| Platform | DR | ChatGPT | Google AIO | Perplexity | Why They Win |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hive You | 49 | Not Cited | Not Appearing | Not Cited | Audit target |
| Culture Amp | 80 | Cited | Appearing | Cited | Science-backed surveys with 40+ templates, AI-powered insights, benchmarks from 1B+ responses. Extensive comparison and "vs" content strategy. Featured in every major "best of" roundup. |
| Lattice | 78 | Cited | Appearing | Cited | All-in-one people management platform combining engagement, performance, and goals. Massive content hub with comparison guides and G2 leader badge across multiple categories. |
| 15Five | 77 | Cited | Appearing | Cited | Owns "weekly check-in" and "continuous feedback" categories. Strong blog, podcast, and thought leadership content that AI tools quote as authoritative sources. |
| Workday Peakon | 93 | Cited | Appearing | Cited | Enterprise-grade continuous listening platform backed by Workday's DR 93. Deep academic research partnerships and enterprise case studies that AI models weight heavily. |
| TINYpulse | — | Partial | Partial | Not Cited | Simple pulse survey positioning resonates with small business content. Frequently mentioned in "best for small teams" lists, which gives it partial AI visibility. |

These are the highest-leverage changes Hive can make right now to start appearing in AI-generated HR software recommendations within 60 to 90 days.
Create comprehensive comparison pages: "Hive vs Culture Amp," "Hive vs Lattice," "Best employee engagement platform for UK businesses." Include FAQ schema, honest feature comparisons, and clear positioning around Hive's unique strength: combining survey technology with professional HR consultancy. These are the exact pages AI tools extract and cite when building recommendation lists.
Hive is missing from the major roundup articles that AI models reference: People Managing People, Achievers, SelectSoftware Reviews, and Research.com. Proactive outreach with case studies, user data, and a strong differentiation story (engagement + consultancy) can secure inclusion. Each mention on these high-DR publications dramatically increases AI citation likelihood.
Hive's site is behind Cloudflare managed challenge, which may block AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended). Verify that these bots can access key pages, publish an llms.txt file describing Hive's product and positioning, and add structured data (Organization, FAQ, SoftwareApplication schema) to product and feature pages.
While auditing your AI visibility, we also looked at your website for technical and structural issues that affect both search performance and AI crawlability. Here is what we found.
hive.hr returns a 403 Cloudflare managed challenge to automated requests, including attempts to access robots.txt and key pages. This means AI crawlers like GPTBot (ChatGPT), ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and Google-Extended may be unable to index your content. If these bots cannot read your site, they cannot recommend you. This is the single highest-priority technical fix: configure Cloudflare to allowlist known AI crawler user agents while maintaining bot protection for malicious traffic.
hive.hr does not serve an llms.txt file (returned 403). This emerging standard lets you explicitly tell AI models what your company does, what products you offer, and how you want to be described. Without it, AI tools must infer your positioning from third-party sources, which currently don't mention Hive. Publishing an llms.txt with your core messaging, product descriptions, and differentiators gives you direct influence over how AI represents your brand.
Based on our review, hive.hr lacks rich structured data on its key pages. There is no visible Organization schema, no SoftwareApplication schema on the product page, no FAQ schema on feature pages, and no BreadcrumbList navigation schema. These structured data types are the signals AI tools and Google AIO use to understand what a product does and who it serves. Adding them is a low-effort, high-return technical improvement that directly improves AI crawlability and citation likelihood.
AI models can only recommend what they can read. If Cloudflare blocks their crawlers, if there is no llms.txt to guide their understanding, and if there is no structured data to parse, Hive is invisible by default, regardless of product quality. Fixing these three issues is the foundation everything else builds on.
These technical fixes pair naturally with a broader website repositioning: building comparison pages, FAQ hubs, and a content strategy that earns AI citations. We specialise in exactly this type of web development and SEO work, and it forms the foundation of the engagement we propose in the next section.
This audit shows the problem. We have a clear strategy to fix it: AI visibility, SEO, and website development working together. Results typically show within the first 60 days.
Hive has a genuine competitive advantage: the only employee engagement platform that combines survey technology with hands-on professional HR consultancy and coaching. That story is not reaching AI, and the fix is not just content. It is AI/GEO optimisation, SEO authority building, website repositioning, and technical improvements, delivered as a focused sprint then maintained through an ongoing retainer. We have helped SaaS, technology, and professional services brands close exactly this gap. A 30-minute call is all it takes to map out a plan.
Nick Rowe · CEO & Co-Founder, Saigon Digital
A fixed-price engagement covering: AI/GEO strategy and implementation, SEO authority building, comparison content creation, structured data deployment, Cloudflare AI crawler configuration, llms.txt publishing, and website repositioning. This sprint transforms your site from invisible-to-AI to actively cited.
After the sprint, a monthly retainer keeps Hive growing: continued SEO and GEO optimisation, content publishing, authority link building, website maintenance and support, performance reporting, and adaptation as AI platforms evolve. This is how a one-time fix becomes a compounding advantage.
Most clients start seeing AI citation improvements within 45 to 60 days. Full competitive parity typically achieved in 90 to 120 days, especially for brands with strong products and authentic differentiation like Hive.
Every month Culture Amp, Lattice, and 15Five publish more comparison content, the gap widens. HR directors are increasingly asking AI "which engagement platform should we buy?", and right now the answer never includes Hive. AI models are training on content published today, so delay compounds the problem.
